Mountain View Community Day Program Participants put “HOPE” into Finding a Cure for Childhood Cancer
In partnership with Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, HOPE Services’ clients in our Mountain View Work Activity Services program (WASII) participated in the Foundation’s annual June fundraiser to help find a cure for childhood cancer. Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation is a unique foundation that evolved from a young cancer patient’s lemonade stand to a nationwide fundraising movement to find a cure for childhood cancer. Since Alexandra “Alex” Scott (1996-2004) set up her front yard stand at the age of four, more than $10 million has been raised towards fulfilling her dream of finding a cure for all children with cancer.
The WASII clients in Mountain View wanted to put some “hope” into finding a cure for childhood cancer, so they hosted their own Alex’s Lemonade Stand on June 8. In addition to HOPE clients and staff that sold lemonade to family and community members, Maria and Baltazar, radio hosts from Movin’ 99.7, showed up with their mobile crew and actually helped work the lemonade stand for nearly three hours!
After the last glass of lemonade was sold, our dedicated WAS II clients had raised nearly $500 to benefit Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer. Congratulations!
